State Duma asks govt to consider econ sanctions against Georgia
MOSCOW, Jul 9 (PRIME) -- The State Duma, Russian parliament’s lower chamber, recommended on Tuesday that the government consider economic sanctions against Georgia and present the proposals to the president.
According to the statement, the measures can forbid or restrict financial operations, forbid foreign economic transactions, restrict tourism and change import or export duties.
On Monday, Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said that Russia can stop Georgian wine and water imports and prohibit money remittances.
The deputies condemned “incessant anti-Russian provocations in Georgia” and said that open attacks by radical forces lead to further degradation of the Russian–Georgian relations.
